Point Designs devices feature a patented, durable, ratcheting mechanism that was developed to improve the independence of patients who have lost one or more fingers at or near the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint and for those who have lost one or more partial fingers at or near the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint.
The Point Digit is a mechanical, passive (i.e. not powered) and robust articulating prosthetic finger. The Point Digit uses a ratcheting mechanism and linkage bars to lock the prosthesis into 11 unique positions of flexion. The prosthesis is made of titanium and stainless steel, and comes with all necessary hardware for integration into a prosthetic socket.
Ideal candidates are users who:
- Have near MCP level amputations of the index, middle, ring, and/or little fingers.
- Require a robust prosthesis
- Desire one-handed operation and anatomical flexion
Features
How a Point Digit Works
To operate the Point Digit, the user positions the finger into one of the 11 locking levels of flexion by pushing the dorsal side of against an opposing surface (e.g., table, thigh, etc.). The device locks into place automatically, enabling the individual to perform their desired task.
There are two methods to extend the digit:
1) by pressing the button on the dorsal side of the finger
2) by fully flexing the finger to engage the auto spring back feature (single-handed use).

- 11 locking levels of flexion

Mounting Kit
The Point Digit mounting kit enables securement of 1-4 Point Digits into a hard shell socket (e.g. carbon fiber). The mounting kit consists of a mounting bracket, lamination spacers, and mounting hardware. After proper positioning, the bracket is embedded into the shell material. Lamination spacers are provided to assist with the embedding process. Mounting hardware is used to attach the lamination spacers to the bracket during lamination, as well as for the final installation of the Point Digit(s).

The Point Digit mini is Point Designs' first prosthetic finger designed to accommodate smaller hands, including children.
