One embodiment enables detection of MI/I and emerging infarction in an implantable system. A plurality of devices may be used to gather and interpret data from within the heart, from the heart surface, and/or from the thoracic cavity. The apparatus may further alert the patient and/or communicate the condition to an external device or medical caregiver. Additionally, the implanted apparatus may initiate therapy of MI/I and emerging infarction.

Intellectual Property

An implantable apparatus may include a plug member having a lumen and a valve adapted to open and close the lumen in response to a signal. The apparatus may also include at least one sensor and a controller adapted to control the valve. The controller may be programmable to open the valve to permit the flow of urine under at least one mode of operation selected from a predetermined time interval operation, a sensor operation, and a manual actuation operation.

Embodiments include methods and apparatus for determining whether a neurological event has occurred in a subject.  An apparatus includes at least on sensor adapted to sense electroencephalogram signals from the subject.  The apparatus also includes an electroencephalogram acquisition module adapted to receive the electroencephalogram signals from at least one sensor, and a processing and analysis module adapted to receive signals from the electroencephalogram acquisition  module and determine changes in neurological function using entropy analysis.
